Riding Gear (for the range)
Following is a list of "Riding Gear" that you
MUST bring with you to class in order to
ride the training bikes. Actual "Protective
Gear" for riding on the street will be discussed
during your first classroom session.
1) Sturdy
over-the-ankle low-heeled footwear (boots or
high-top shoes). It is best to stay away
from boots with very thick toes such as steel
toed boots or high heels.
What will work: Motorcycle boots, cowboy
boots, high-top sneakers, most hiking boots.
What will NOT work: Regular sneakers,
Converse basketball shoes (not "sturdy").
Basically any shoes that do not FULLY cover the
ankle and/or are not sturdy.
2) Long non-flare
denim pants or material of equivalent or better
durability. No holes, slits or cuts. Please leave your fashion jeans at home. :-)
3) Long-sleeved
shirt or jacket (remember summer
temperatures, light colors are better)
4) Full-fingered
gloves: Preferably leather, however any type
of gloves (even gardening gloves) will work as
long as they are full-fingered.
5) Eye protection
(sunglasses, prescription glasses, goggles, or a
helmet with a face shield). Remember, we do
provide helmets, but you may bring your own if
you wish and if it's at least D.O.T. approved.
In addition, we also
SUGGEST that you bring:
- Non-alcoholic beverage to drink (water is
supplied at both the classroom and range)
- Snack food (snacks and drinks are also
available at a minimal cost in the classroom)
- Rain Gear if you have it (Welcome to Texas –
If you don’t like the weather, wait 30 minutes)
- Sun block
- Folding chair for breaks
Very Important for the
2-Day Weekend Classes
During the Summer Months (June, July, August, September)
- Small Cooler with
Gatorade (Stay away from carbonated drinks)
- Load up on water during lunch
- Folding chair for breaks
- Hand towel that you can wet with cold water
